Cet article suit la montée de l’idée nationale bouriate et mongole au sein de l’intelligentsia bouriate, du début du xxe siècle aux années 1930. Les écrits d’Elbedorž Rinčino (1888-1938), un des principaux acteurs culturels et politiques de cette période, apportent un éclairage nouveau sur l’évolution du concept de nation confrontée aux révolutions russe, chinoise et mongole. Le contexte particulier dans lequel se trouvaient les peuples mongols, divisés entre les empires chinois et russe, a conduit à l’élaboration de l’idéologie panmongole.

This article shows the rise of the idea of a Buryat and Mongol nation among the Buryat intelligentsia from the beginning of the 20st century to the 1930s. The writings of Elbedorž Rinčino (1888-1938), one of the principal political and cultural actors of this period, bring a new light to the evolution of the concept of nation in the face of the Russian, Chinese and Mongolian revolutions. The peculiar context in which the Mongol peoples found themselves, divided between the Chinese and Russian empires, led to the elaboration of a panMongolian ideology.
